Description: VOLARA 6EO is a general purpose cross-linked polyethylene foam (XLPE) with an EVA copolymer which combines low cost with a wide range of material properties. 6EO is stronger and softer than the 6A grade, making it better suited to medical and food grade applications. It is commonly used as the foam in foam backed adhesive tapes. As a closed cell foam, VOLARA 6EO can be used in many gasketing applications to seal against dust, air and water. Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and VOLARA 6EO closed cell foam has low water absorption. VOLARA has a smooth skin, making it popular in specialty packaging. This XLPE sponge is often used as flooring underlay, window glazing and electrical outlet insulation. Cross-linked polyethylene foam is a common material in the HVAC and lighting industries. VOLARA’s 6 # density (6EO) is used in applications where greater tear strength and tensile strength are needed. VOLARA 2A and 4A can be used when strength is not an issue, but thickness and economy is. 2AF is used when a UL 94 HF-1 rating is required.
VOLARA is available in many styles and thicknesses. The most common are 2A and 2AF (fire rated), 4A and 6A. Generally VOLARA densities go up as thickness goes down: 2# density (2A and 2AF) is common in 1/8" thickness, 4# density (4A) in 1/16th and 6# density (6A and 6EO) in 1/32" thicknesses.
VOLARA is easily fabricated. VOLARA can be die cut by many methods, including high speed rotary kiss cutting. It can be laminated to different adhesives, such as rubber and acrylic based pressure sensitive adhesives. VOLARA 6EO can be provided in full rolls up to 60" wide, or slit rolls as narrow as ¼", in thicknesses from .031" to .50" (thinner gauges require higher densities). We can die cut or waterjet cut parts to your exact specifications.
