Custom Gaskets

A highly skilled, hardworking team can meet and often exceed even the most challenging customer demands. That's why Atlantic Gasket Corporation employs some of the most qualified designers and manufacturing personnel the gasket making industry has to offer. Members of our team are dedicated to ensuring that your custom gasket maintains a secure seal under required application conditions.

Custom Die Cut Gasket Design

Before we can properly determine what a good cross-sectional design will be, we explore basic application criteria. For an effective, high-performance gasket, it is essential to identify what the gasket needs to seal and the environment it will encounter. The temperature range and the extent of outdoor exposure are also key factors that must be defined. From keeping out dust or contaminants to sealing against moisture during fluid immersion, gaskets must be designed for repeated use in a specific application.

It is important to know how the gasket will be applied to the substrate or how it will function in the end application. Atlantic Gasket can manufacture custom gaskets without an adhesive backing or with adhesive on one or two sides. The characteristics of the surface to be sealed, the opening or gap, the working pressures to be sealed, and other design parameters, all affect the material callout and the required clamping force and pattern. We consider tolerances of both the enclosure and the sealing material and make recommendations accordingly.

Custom Die Cut Gasket Material Selection

As in any part or component design, selecting the right material is critical to long-term performance. At Atlantic Gasket, we offer a broad range of materials. When necessary, we offer advice on ways of customizing seals and gaskets to meet your specific needs. For instance, we might suggest commercial grade rubber silicone for applications where extreme temperature resistance is required. We may recommend changing the location of various bolt holes or fastening holes to allow for greater distribution of pressure and to help eliminate wear. We may also suggest increasing the wall thickness to ensure that the gasket will not fail.

Atlantic Gasket improves the material selection process and avoids costly retooling by…
  • Establishing what type of environment the product needs to withstand.
  • Determining what fluids must be contained.
  • Choosing the correct hardness or density.
  • Designing for optimum cross section configuration.
  • Identifying the time frame required for prototypes and initial production quantities.
  • Deciding if the configuration necessitates molding or die cutting based on profile or complexity.

After these issues have been addressed, Atlantic Gasket decides on the best method for production, provides the lowest unit costs, and projects accurate lead times. Contact Atlantic Gasket for high quality custom gaskets today.
